After a 3 weeks review, Apple has finally accepted the version 0.6 of RSS Runner.

I fixed several bugs including:

  • When “auto feed refresh on startup” option was activated, the application was crashing at startup (since: 0.5)
  • When some feeds were added, they were not displayed in the top of the custom-sorted feed list, which is now custom-sorted (since: 0.5)

I added the following function:

  • The “blue” look and feel is back : now you can choose in the application Settings the blue theme or the black theme

I removed the following function:

  • The sort criteria bar: you can manually sort you feeds using the “edit” button but the toolbar has been removed (in fact, I have a much, much, much better idea for a further release: stay tuned!)

I was getting ready to leave a comment that the sort criteria bar was missing in the newest version, but see that the app is functioning as designed :-(

When might the “much, much, much better idea” be rolled out? I really liked the auto-sort by unread count.

Woah! You can’t remove sort if you’re going to leave feeds with no unread items showing, I have about 60 feeds and have to now scroll a lot to view items. Was removing the sort bar a much requested thing? If so can you create an option in settings to hide feeds with no new items? Thanks :)

The sort criteria bar was the key-function i decided to use rss-runner as my feed-app.
I have about 120 feed which do not update every day – so i have to spend a lot more time on looking for my updated feeds than before.

Runs as desigend is ok – but if you need too long for your “much, much, much better idea” the app is no longer my no1-rss-feeder

Why not keeping the sort-bar in use unless the new function is running???

sorry…..

I too miss the “sort by unread count” feature. That and the speed are the reasons I started using RSS Runner. Please bring back sorting soon!

(Sorting by count was a defining feature of RSS Runner. No other iPhone RSS App has it, that I could find.)

@All: Be confident, the sort by unread count should be back soon ;-)

Hi, I can find the way to change the settings, the “i” button sends me to your web page, please help me

@Alberto: This is the iPhone common Settings screen, in the home screen of your iPhone (where you have all of your applications icons).

@Tito: Thank you for your ideas, I will think about them ;-)

I just downloaded RSS runner and I think it’s neat, but please add some push notifications so that the number of unread feeds is displayed as a badge. It would be great if you could do that. Thanks!

@All: I just submitted the version 0.7 to Apple: you’ll see that the feed sort bar is back. I have to delay my “much, much, much better idea” but this version will bring you several new features.

Nice app. Please add:

(1) Multi-line headlines. (It’s hard to understand truncated headlines.)

(2) Folders (Let us group our feeds.)

@popcornflix: I will think about them ;-)

Question: how do you mark an article as unread?

Suggestion: export or have a way to save feed listing

eh.. luv it ))

any updates coming ?

@Gordas Amateur : Yes, I submitted the version 0.8 to Apple one week ago. Stay tuned ;-)

Hi Francois,

thanks for the time spent on developing this reader.

Two suggestions:

1) as mentioned by @Ron, a way to export feeds would be really useful. I use RSS Runner as my main reader on my iPhone, but now want to start managing via Google Reader on my laptop. I don’t want to have to type in all my feeds again into Google Reader.

2) can you move the “Mark all as read” button somewhere less accessible? I recently tapped it accidentally, and now my 750 unread items all appear as read. Not great!
